Africa on Foot Wilderness Trails
- Self-drive or Road transfer to Chacma Bush Camp (headquarters)
- Transfer to first campsite
For guests arriving via transfers arranged from Johannesburg or Hoedspruit Airport, the journey begins at the Grietjie Balule Gate, the gateway to the reserve.
From there, a scenic route through the Maseke Game Reserve will transport them to the briefing point at Chacma Bush Camp. A delectable lunch, expertly prepared by the chef, awaits.
The game viewer will depart with all excess luggage destined for the mobile camp, after which guests will be transported to their first campsite.
Once settled into camp, it’s time to embark on an exhilarating evening sundowner drive aboard the game viewer.
Returning to a camp illuminated under the starlit sky, guests can savour a delicious dinner before retiring for their first night of camping in the untamed wilderness.
Africa on Foot Wilderness Trails

Begin your day with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a light breakfast of rusks, fruit, and yoghurt. This will give you enough energy to head out into the wild for a three to four hour walk through the wilderness.
While en route, a light brunch will be served. After which, you’ll enjoy another two-three hour walk before heading to your next campsite for the night.
Around 15h00, a snack board will be served, before the evening game drive. After the drive, you’ll return to camp for a cosy fireside dinner, followed by a restful night’s sleep under the African sky.
Africa on Foot Wilderness Trails

Wake up to coffee and a light breakfast of rusks, fruit, and yoghurt before kitting up and departing on another three to four hour walk heading towards the Olifants River where brunch is prepared and served by the chef.
After brunch, guests will enjoy another two to three hour walk to the camp on the banks of the river. While at camp, look out for hippos and crocs, and listen for the call of the African fish-eagle.
This scenic spot is the perfect place to spend the last night of trails. A cheese board and snacks will be served at 15h00 before heading out on the evening drive in search of predators. Depart for a sunset game drive, before returning to camp for dinner and bed.

Wake up to the sunrise on the Olifants River and take in the splendour before a continental breakfast is served. Enjoy a short walk along the river before transferring back to Chacma Bush Camp (Africa on Foot Wilderness Trails base).
Upon your arrival at Chacma Bush Camp, a warm and friendly team will extend a heartfelt welcome, setting the tone for the extraordinary safari experience ahead.
After settling in, indulge in a delicious lunch served in the main area overlooking the waterhole. Elephants frequently put on a display at the waterhole – don’t be surprised to see them while at lunch.
Later in the afternoon, embark on an exciting game drive. Your knowledgeable guide will prepare a cooler box stocked with your preferred drinks as you journey into the wild, immersing yourself in the wonders of the wilderness.
During the game drive, your guide will unveil the secrets of the bush as they navigate the terrain. Afterward, return to camp for a lavish three-course dinner served in the main area, where you can unwind and share tales of the day’s adventures around the campfire in the boma.
Chacma Bush Camp

Rise to an early wake-up call followed by coffee and rusks.
After a warm cuppa, you’ll depart for a morning game drive to track some of the Big 5 on drive, while being introduced to other wildlife in the area.
Upon your return to camp, indulge in a delicious breakfast to refuel for the day’s adventures. Take some time to relax with an afternoon siesta or relax on the pool patio overlooking the waterhole and wilderness.
Later in the afternoon, enjoy a satisfying lunch before embarking on a picturesque afternoon/sunset game drive, complete with your choice of sundowners to cap off the day’s exploration.
After your memorable game drive, return to camp and unwind around the campfire, swapping stories of the day’s sightings. Then, relish a delectable three-course dinner, followed by a nightcap under the stars.
Chacma Bush Camp

Take some time to relax with an afternoon siesta or around the poolside overlooking the waterhole in front of camp. The waterhole is a drawcard for kingfishers, large mammals, and the occasional predator.
Later in the afternoon, enjoy a satisfying lunch before embarking on an afternoon/evening game drive, complete with refreshing sundowners to cap off the day’s exploration.
After your memorable game drive, return to camp to unwind around the campfire, swapping stories of the day’s sightings. Then, relish in a delectable three-course dinner, marking your final night at Chacma Bush Camp before bidding farewell to this intimate wilderness retreat.

After breakfast, take some time to freshen up and bid farewell to the dedicated team at the camp. Then, embark on your journey to nThambo Tree Camp, in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve.
Upon arrival, enjoy your welcome drink with a safety briefing and orientation of the camp.
Settle in at camp and enjoy the wilderness views from your private balcony with some refreshments before being served lunch in the main area.
There’ll be some time to relax before departing for an evening game through the renowned Klaserie Private Nature Reserve.
Enjoy sundowners at a scenic spot and a short night drive back to camp where a campfire will be waiting to welcome you. Dinner will be served in the stylish dining area overlooking the wilderness and waterhole.
nThambo Tree Camp

An early wake-up call will be met with coffee and rusks at the main area of camp before you depart on a morning game drive. Your guide will take you on a three-hour adventure through the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, where it’s possible to spot anything from African wild dogs to lions, leopards and adorable hyena cubs.
After your morning activity, you’ll return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by an optional bush walk (weather permitting).
Spend some time overlooking the waterhole in front of camp, which is frequented by abundant bird species and wildlife. Lunch will be served later in the day before you depart on an afternoon game drive, including sundowners and a night drive back to camp.
Dinner is served, followed by your last night at nThambo Tree Camp. Enjoy your final night in a wooden treehouse chalet on stilts, listening to the scurry of nocturnal animals beneath your chalet.
