This lesser-known corner of the Greater Kruger is home to the Big Five, dramatic rocky outcrops, and wide vistas that stretch beyond the horizon.
With just three natural stone chalets, Chacma sleeps a maximum of 10 guests. The camp is built around a bustling waterhole, frequented by elephant herds, warthogs, and plains game. Whether you’re cooling off in the stone-decked swimming pool or relaxing on a lounger in the shade, wildlife is never far away.

Location
Chacma Bush Camp is ideally located in the Maseke Game Reserve, a completely off-the-beaten track private reserve that is teeming with wildlife. Explore untouched landscapes with rocky outcrops, diverse vegetation and the Olifants River. The are is a big five reserve and the bonus? It’s a relatively unknown reserve but certainly doesn’t lack in terms of sightings. Less people, more wildlife!
Lodge & Rooms
The camp is built around a bustling waterhole, regularly visited by elephant herds, warthogs, and plains game. Whether you’re cooling off in the stone-decked swimming pool or relaxing on a sun lounger, the wildlife is never far away.
Each chalet is built from natural stone and boulders, blending into the landscape while offering a natural cooling effect during the heat of summer. The Klipspringer Chalet sleeps up to six guests and features an outdoor shower, perfect for families. Steenbok Chalet, ideal for couples, offers a private view over the waterhole. Grysbok Chalet includes two separate rooms, comfortably sleeping two adults and two children. All chalets are stylishly furnished for comfort, with quality linens and en-suite bathrooms.
Wildlife
During the dry season the vegetation is sparse, and wildlife congregates around watering holes. During the wet season the vegetation is dense, and wildlife is more dispersed. Expect to see the big five over the course of a 3-night stay. In addition to the big five that are regularly sighted include giraffe, zebra, warthog, spotted hyena, baboon, hippo, impala, kudu, vervet monkey, waterbuck, wildebeest, bushbaby, mongoose, duiker and steenbok. You might also see wild dog, cheetah, honey badger, porcupine, aardvark, civet, caracal and serval. Birds that are regularly seen are vultures, owls, bee-eaters, rollers, eagles, bustards, hornbills, starlings and shrikes.
